Squires News: Squire’s Announcement: The Squire’s will be working with the Atco Lions on a collection drive. We will be collecting the following items: old eye glasses, cell phones, hearing aids, ink cartridges, and cancelled stamps. Cancelled stamps are stamps that have already been used to send mail. This holiday season, whenever you receive a Christmas card, please save the stamp from the envelope and bring it in after the Christmas break. All of the collected items will go to benefit needy and wounded veterans. This collection drive does not have an end date, so please remember to bring these items in whenever you have them. If you bring in items for this drive, they can be put in the “Lion’s Project” cardboard box located outside of the computer lab. Food for Service- Starting in January, the Assumption school Squire’s will begin a new and exciting program called “Food for Service.” We are asking that all of the students at Assumption School do simple acts of service in their homes or communities. In return, we hope that the parents will reward their child with a canned good or non-perishable food item that they earned by doing this good deed. The students will then bring the food item to school where their first name and job or service activity will be placed on a strip of paper, which will be taped on the item. At every First Friday Mass, the students who performed an act of service and brought in a food item will participate in the offertory procession by bringing their food item up to the altar to be blessed. The canned food and non-perishable food products collected by the students will be used to stock our Christ the Redeemer Parish food pantry. The Squire’s will spend recess time to help organize the items in the parish food pantry. Statistics show that many food pantries throughout the country are extremely well stocked during the holiday season, however, after the holidays pass, the donations to the pantries begin to dwindle. It is the hope of the Squires, to keep the Christ the Redeemer food pantry well stocked throughout the entire year so that we can better service those in need in our own community. 8th Grade News: Parish News: *Christ The Redeemer Parish Gift Certificates order form attached!
